VISION

This initiative will offer scholarships to students based on merit and financial need

MISSION:

Supporting the academically sound but financially handicapped children of Mankon by way of scholarship and education

Mankon has a significant number of primary, secondary as well as high schools. Mankon boasts of some of the best schools training citizens who have successfully found careers in different works of life. Not only does Mankon host these schools, it also has produced some of the best and brightest minds of the country.
Education will remain the foremost in empowerment. Unfortunately, a great proportion of our fellow citizens are being left behind primarily due to financial constraints. Our goal will be to ease the pain of those families who have demonstrated extraordinary academic abilities but do not have the adequate means of furthering their education.

Additionally, since 2016, Mankon has been caught in the civil war between the government and the indigenes of the Southern Cameroons. Schools have remained partially or completely shut down. Many students have been displaced and deprived of the value of quality education. MFSI will partner with community schools to provide education to the innocent children trapped in the civil war while the conflict lasts and position itself to restructure the educational experience post war.

HISTORY

The Mankon Forum Scholarship Initiative (MFSI) is the conception of Fausta Ditah, MD, MPH founded in 2006. MFSI has as its main objectives to support the academically gifted but financially handicapped children of Mankon by way of scholarship and education. Between 2007 and 2016, MFSI recruited and provided scholarships to pupils who had successfully passed their end of primary exams to pursue secondary education at Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Mankon. At full capacity, MFSI was supporting 50 students annually in its core program and providing additional scholarships to over 100 pupils across Mankon.  Since 2017, secondary to armed conflict, formal education has been disrupted in Mankon with many internally displaced children. Over the past 2 years, community schools have cropped up to fill the educational gap. MFSI has partnered with some of these schools to continue to foster the mission of providing education for the disadvantaged children of Mankon.

Who we Are?

We aim to provide financial support

We work on raising funds to support the scholarship initiative and maintaining relationships with donors.

It develops new programs and evaluates existing ones to ensure they meet the organization’s goals and the needs of the community
